Durba, Haut-Uele – April 10, 2024 – In response to the rising security challenges in Durba’s mining region, Compagnie Multimodale d’Ingénierie des Services Miniers (COMISEMI SARL), a trusted leader in mining and drilling services, has made a significant contribution to strengthen local policing efforts. COMISEMI, a valued subcontractor for Kibali Gold Mines, donated two new Boxer motorcycles to enhance the mobility and effectiveness of the Congolese National Police in Durba.

The official handover ceremony took place on April 10, 2024, in front of the Durba multipurpose hall. Representatives from the police, civil society, and local authorities attended as COMISEMI’s General Manager, Mr. Dominique Atafo, presented the motorcycle keys to the interim commander of the Watsa urban police station.

“Recent incidents of violence, including fatal shootings and robberies, have underscored the need for increased support. We discovered that response times were impacted by a lack of police mobility resources, which delayed police presence at critical moments,” stated Mr. Atafo. “As a member of this community, it is our duty to assist the Congolese National Police in their essential role of safeguarding us all. Security is a collective responsibility.”
