COMISEMI SARL Inaugurates New Headquarters in Durba, Boosting Local Employment and Infrastructure Development

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Durba, Haut-Uele – June 8, 2024 – In a landmark event attended by various political, administrative, and security officials, as well as local entrepreneurs and distinguished guests, the Assistant Administrator of Watsa Territory officially inaugurated the new headquarters of Compagnie Multimodale d’Ingénierie des Services Miniers (COMISEMI SARL). As a valued subcontractor for Kibali GoldMines, COMISEMI’s new facility marks a significant step forward in its commitment to local and regional development.

The newly inaugurated building features modern administrative offices equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a garage, a storage depot, parking areas, and internal and external sanitary facilities. This advanced infrastructure will support COMISEMI’s various departments in providing optimal services to its clients.

COMISEMI’s General Manager, Mr. Dominique Atafo, highlighted the project as a testament to the capability of Congolese enterprises to undertake large-scale initiatives. “This building not only provides an ideal working environment for our employees but also offers local youth the chance to learn valuable, lifelong skills,” he stated. Mr. Atafo emphasized that this achievement contributes to infrastructure development in the region and reflects COMISEMI’s commitment to supporting its parent company, Kibali GoldMines, in fostering local business opportunities.

He expressed hope that other companies partnering with Kibali GoldMines would follow COMISEMI’s example by investing in community development projects around the mine.

Drawing inspiration from biblical principles of perseverance, Mr. Atafo encouraged young people to strive for success in a challenging business environment. “I began with Kibali GoldMines without any startup capital or financial backing, relying instead on hard work and determination to reach where we are today. It’s not because we’re local that we partner with Kibali but because of the quality of services we provide. As Congolese entrepreneurs, we must demonstrate our competitiveness to seize more opportunities,” he said, adding that his vision is to bring COMISEMI to international standards.

The administrative official praised Mr. Atafo’s achievements and encouraged local youth to follow his example of resilience and ambition. Celestin Atamvo, Assistant Administrator of Watsa, commended the presence of Kibali GoldMines, noting its contributions to local employment, community development, and economic growth.

Founded in 2019 in Durba by a young Congolese entrepreneur, COMISEMI SARL has grown into a specialized company focused on diamond drilling and high-quality water well equipment supply. Today, it employs over 60 people, creating both direct and indirect benefits for the community. COMISEMI aims to continue expanding with the support of the state and other partners, aspiring to become an internationally recognized leader in mining drilling services.
